How Do I Get Rid of Belly Fat?

Top Question: How Do I Get Rid of Belly Fat?
This is the most frequent question I get asked. While you canāt spot reduce, losing weight in general will help reduce your belly. However itās also important to note that if youāre in your 40ās or 50ās (and in perimenopause or menopause), making sure your hormones are in check is key. If youāve had your bloodwork checked and everything is normal, here are some other things you should do.
Get quality sleep for 6-8 hours. Everyoneās sleep needs are different. If you wake well-rested, odds are that youāre getting an adequate amount.
Manage your stress. If your cortisol (aka stress hormone) level is high, it can impact your ability to lose weight. Be sure to find ways to de-stress. This can be through meditation, walking outside (without your phone), journaling, breathwork, tapping, or taking a nap.
Eat unprocessed foods and track to ensure youāre eating in a calorie deficit. You lose weight by burning more calories than you take in. If youāre not tracking, itās virtually impossible to know how much (or how little) youāre consuming.
Stay hydrated. Drinking enough fluids is another critical piece of the weight loss puzzle. In addition to preventing water retention, drinking enough water ensures you donāt mistaken hunger for thirst.
Be patient and take your time when it comes to reducing your belly fat. We all have some form of six-pack abs; theyāre just hidden beneath your body fat. With consistency and patience, those abs will eventually reveal themselves. šĀ
